BRC Acoustics Our firm has been dedicated to providing the highest level of client service and design since it was founded as TRC in the 1960s. Over the past 30 years, our experienced team of acoustical consultants has provided acoustical design for hundreds of projects across the United States and in countries around the globe. From theaters to boardrooms, casinos to churches, courthouses to convention centers; We use our expertise and the latest technologies to customize your acoustical solutions.

As an original member and past Chair of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for acoustics, Daniel Bruck, Ph. D., leads a BRC team that is dedicated to the promotion and development of "green" acoustics. Our team includes LEED Accredited Professionals and licensed engineers with advanced degrees in the science of acoustics.

Whether it's for advice on a minor question or for full design services on your next project, we invite you to be in touch.
Highlights

read more › At BRC, we are fascinated by the power of sound. With advanced degrees in acoustics, years of field experience, and deep involvement in the design world's premier leadership associations, our firm has a long history of industry leadership and innovation. As your acoustical consulting and design partners, our team members thrive on the diversity of projects we see. In any given week, you might find us in a historic theater, on a remote logging road, in an aircraft factory, on the rooftop of a 20-story building, or in a design meeting for a museum or historic renovation such as the Space Needle.

BRC Acoustics began in 1960 as Towne, Richards & Chaudiere, Inc., a pioneering acoustical consulting firm in the Northwest. Recognizing that there was more to acoustical engineering than just theater design, the original TRC team - with partners Buzz Towne, Roy Richards, and Herb Chaudiere - transformed the architectural and engineering communities by introducing acoustical design into the mainstream.

At BRC, we've worked in churches, multi-family residential, convention centers, high-rise towers, and major hotels to optimize the building performance and its occupants' experience. Working with architects, engineers, and building owners, BRC acoustical consultants optimize environments through the analysis and design of all factors affecting buildings' interior acoustics: sound isolation, the control of reverberation and reflections, HVAC noise control, and sound quality in performance and presentation spaces.

Mechanical system noise control is key for managing background noise levels. Any space that involves communication must have effective noise and vibration control to ensure that programs, instruction, and every type of acoustical interaction can take place without background noise interference. BRC's experienced acoustical consultants design mechanical system noise and vibration solutions to ensure that lectures and performances are heard clearly and that the sound quality of your space is optimized for its intended use.

A well-designed audiovisual system is critical for performance venues, lecture halls, classrooms, and any other environment with visual and audio program material. BRC acoustical consultants make sure that your sound & AV systems bring people together with uniform sound coverage, clear speech intelligibility, and sharp visual & graphic displays. BRC's AV designs are customized to meet your precise needs.

Our consultants measure, analyze, evaluate, and mitigate noise and noise exposure from exterior and industrial noise sources to ensure that your project is code compliant and protects the health of neighbors and staff. Our team employs state-of-the-art computer analyses to quantify and evaluate noise sources, and we provide effective recommendations to mitigate environmental noise, ensure industrial worker noise exposure remains in compliance with OSHA regulations, and control the impact of noise on nearby neighborhoods and adjacent properties.

BRC's acoustical consultants have advanced degrees in acoustics, apply the highest professional standards, and have extensive field experience. As expert witnesses, we examine, evaluate, and replicate specific conditions in order to help understand disputed circumstances with acoustical dimensions. We have replicated the acoustics of lethal force incidents such as gunshots as well as the audibility of vocal warnings at crime scenes.

Except where noted, all presentations are registered with the American Institute of Architects Continuing Education System (AIA/CES). All presentations (with the exception of Code Enforcement Issues) cover Health, Safety, and Welfare (HSW) subjects as defined by the AIA. Acoustics for Green Design: This presentation addresses cost-effective acoustical design for compliance with LEED for Schools acoustic credits and prerequisites, discusses "green" acoustical materials for construction, and offers design solutions to coordinate green architecture with effective acoustical design.

read more › BRC Acoustics & Audiovisual Design is a pioneering acoustical and audiovisual consulting firm based in Seattle, WA. With advanced degrees in acoustics, the highest professional standards, and an international catalogue of field experience, we're proud to be leaders in the field of acoustical consulting and design. We work with architects, engineers, and developers as partners in acoustical analysis and design. Using state-of-the-art computer modeling programs in conjunction with noise and vibration measurement equipment, we optimize the architectural and mechanical acoustics of building interiors, perform noise impact assessments, and mitigate the acoustical impact of industry and development.
