Cal Engineering & Geology
CE&G is an award-winning geotechnical and civil engineering consulting, design, and construction management firm located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since 1993, CE&G has been providing Pragmatic ExpertiseTM to public agency and private industry clients throughout California.

Alameda County Flood Control and Water Conservation District retained CE&G as a subconsultant to complete a seismic and geotechnical investigation to evaluate the stability of Cull Creek, which is located within several kilometers of the Hayward Fault. After results found the embankment dam to be unstable, CE&G developed and evaluated conceptual alternatives for retrofitting the 50 year old dam.

This was achieved by lowering the spillway to address seismic instability and re-creating a sector of the creek into a natural meandering channel. CE&G was retained as a subconsultant to AECOM for the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District's proposed new toll gantry structure, just south from the existing structure.
Services
Since its founding in 1993, CE&G has provided award-winning geotechnical, geologic, and related civil engineering services to public agency clients throughout the Bay Area.
What makes CE&G different than other firms?.
In addition to a full-range of geotechnical consulting services, CE&G also has full design capabilities, in which we routinely prepare complete PS&E packages for public works agencies on geotechnical-related projects.
The professional engineers and geologists at CE&G have an average of 20+ years professional experience.
What began in 1993 as a two-person firm has grown into a Bay Area renowned network of the best geotechnical and related civil engineering (geo-civil) consulting and design services throughout California.
Enjoy highlights from over a quarter century of CE&G history, including some of our most significant company milestones and groundbreaking projects.
CE&G's engineering geologists characterize the geologic conditions at each project site to provide a broad understanding of the underlying bedrock and soil conditions at and around the project.
The site characterization is refined through the completion of subsurface exploration and laboratory testing programs.
Having a broad understanding of the site, supplemented with detailed subsurface explorations, allows for the development of pragmatic design, construction, and maintenance recommendations of capital improvement projects.
Unlike most geotechnical firms, CE&G offers comprehensive civil design capabilities including preparation of ready-for-bidding plans, specifications, and estimates for public works projects.
The majority of the in-house design work involves geo/civil structures such as lateral earth retaining systems, pavements, bridge foundations, trenchless pipelines, and storm drain improvements.
The ability of CE&G to combine geotechnical, structural, and civil engineering disciplines in-house streamlines the design process and eliminates the need to coordinate with multiple engineering consulting and design firms.
From project concept through construction, CE&G provides a broad spectrum of civil engineering services associated with public infrastructure development and renewal projects.
In addition to preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates required to perform the prescribed work, our experienced team of civil engineers and project managers begin every project with a clear understanding of your desired outcome.
We look for potential challenges and identify details that can impact project costs and contribute to time delays.
