The National Society of Black Engineers is offering a FREE 3-week summer enrichment for rising 3rd - 5th graders. It is completely virtual. It is open to the greater Richmond area (New Kent, Goochland, Richmond, Henrico County, Chesterfield County, Dinwiddie, Prince George, Caroline County, Hanover County, Petersburg, Colonial Heights, and others).

If the young person is in central VA, they can select Richmond, VA Program 2 session. RMEP was formed to establish a mechanism by which minority (not just race, but also gender) middle and high school students can be encouraged to consider science and engineering as a profession, thereby assisting in the national effort to alleviate under representation of minorities in all engineering professions.

These funds will allow us to offer financial aid to students who are unable to afford to participate in our program. And since we are a 501c3, your donation is tax deductible. In an effort to increase minority participation in the engineering profession, Virginia State University partners with the Richmond Area Program for Minorities in Engineering (RAPME).

All Greater Richmond Area students from 3rd through 12th grades are eligible to participate.
To encourage 3rd-12th graders to pursue degrees in engineering and other technical fields.
The Richmond Minorities in Engineering Partnership (RMEP) will provide funding for several $500 scholarships and the $1000 Bert Petersen Meritorious Service Award scholarship to former RMEP participants.
These awards will be granted around June of the current year.
Must select a major in a field of engineering or engineering technology.
Consideration will also be given to students pursuing degrees in physical science (Chemistry, Physics, and Biology etc.) or mathematics.
One letter of reference from someone that can speak about your academic performance and potential.
We solicit your support in this continuing effort to find unique and fun ways to teach engineering principles in a manner that both educates and hopefully ignites a spark of excitement in youth from Richmond to Petersburg and all the surrounding communities that may lead these students to pursue the study of engineering, science, math or technology.
RMEP is an exemplary program of collaborative efforts that bring together multiple organizations, industries and academic institutions with the passion, experience, and knowledge to set strategic directions, establish effective programs and sustain results in its effort to reach these important objectives.
I participated in all phases of RMEP where I was able to explore my interest in Math.
I was introduced to engineers and professors who were passionate about what they taught us.
Because of this I was inspired to continue my education and went on to receive my Bachelors of Science degree in Architectural Engineering.
If I had never been introduced to this program, I probably would still be trying to fit into the common goals of most-becoming lawyers or doctors.
I just wanted to thank you and your team for this summer's RAPME program.
