Dilip Mundkur is the President of BES Inc. With over 29 years of experience, he has a strong background in highway design, ITS and traffic engineering. He has served as the engineer-of-record for traffic studies, plans, specifications and estimates for over a hundred transportation projects. These projects involved the analysis and design of pavements, traffic signal systems, ATMS applications, roadway lighting, highway signing, pavement marking, intersection improvement studies, and geometric design of highways.

Dilip has served previously as the Assistant District Traffic Design Engineer (ADTDE) for the Florida Department of Transportation, District Seven.

As a Subconsultant to HW Lochner, BES is providing CEI management services, roadway and ITS/Signalization inspection, and field materials testing. The project involves widening Bell Shoals Road from a two-lane roadway to a divided four-lane roadway with raised, landscaped medians; providing two vehicle lanes, a bicycle lane, and a sidewalk in each direction; widening the existing bridge over the Alafia River; upgrading the existing traffic signals at Glenhaven Drive, Rosemead Lane, and Bloomingdale Avenue; adding a new traffic signal at Starwood Avenue; enhancing pedestrian safety features, including upgrades to comply with current ADA regulations and improving stormwater drainage.

read more › BES was part of the team providing CEI services for the $35 million, 3.5-mile Bruce B. Downs (CR 581) Segment A roadway reconstruction. The project consisted of widening the four-lane rural roadway to an eight-lane urban section. Scope of work included Intelligent Transportation System and Signals CEI service. Seven signals were replaced and five CCTV cameras were added. CEI services include administration, on-site inspection, review of project submittals, monitoring, testing, and reviewing testing results.

read more › BES prepared a Traffic Technical Memorandum that suggested future geometry for this intersection. Crash data, turning movements, and approach volumes were analyzed. Signal warrant analysis and turn lane length analysis were performed to determine geometric features. The team collected all traffic counts necessary for preparing the technical memorandum. These included 72-hour approach counts including classification, eight-hour turning movement counts, and pedestrian/bicycle counts. Our staff also prepared the signal design plans per FDOT and Hillsborough County Standards and Specifications and provided assistance with the signing and pavement marking plans using AUTOTURN to set the stop bar locations and GuideSIGN to create informational signs.

read more › The BES Team is providing a team of Inspectors for this $153 million project involving rehabilitation for a series of intersecting bridges connecting Interstate 84 and Route 8 in Downtown Waterbury. This project includes the construction of three temporary bridges, deck replacement for two bridges, the installation of overhead sign structures, performance of deck repairs & replacements, steel layouts & repairs, substructure layout & repairs, joint repairs, haunch repairs, PDA analysis, Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT), concrete soundings and other general repairs.

read more › Our team of engineers are working on this Bridge Safety Inspection Program for complex and moderately complex highway bridges and fracture critical bridges. We are responsible for bridge component condition ratings, equipment coordination, execution of field inspection, quality control and development of inspection reports in compliance with National Bridge Inspection Standards and Department of Transportation Inspection Standards. BES is also responsible for planning and scheduling of inspection works and coordination with vendors, state & town police and the CTDOT Bridge Safety Department.
