For Plant Operations & Maintenance personnel in need of arc flash hazard compliance with NFPA 70E, BICE Engineering and Consulting can provide a thorough, comprehensive analysis with recommendations that rivals or exceeds that of larger competing firms. Unlike these larger firms, BICE can perform this analysis within the allotted project scope, schedule, and budget at a highly competitive rate!

We specialize in power system studies, design/construction support, and electrical safety requirement services for industrial, commercial, and utility. We are an experienced professional engineering firm that listens carefully to the concerns and needs of our clients and delivers a high quality. BICE Engineering and Consulting has performed numerous Arc Flash Hazzard Analysis studies in the last Two years in periods when our in-house engineering team was not able to dedicate the time necessary to perform the studies.

Over the many studies completed, Mr. May responded promptly and in a professional manner to ensure we were satisfied with his service.

Our professional services include electrical power system studies for heavy industrial plants, commercial buildings, and utility facilities; including switching stations, substations, and power generating plants.
We are very proficient users of SKM PTW and ETAP electrical engineering software programs which are essential analytical tools for performing power system studies.
A more detailed listing and explanation of our services is provided below.
We can also provide ancillary services including construction shop drawing review, development of electrical single line as-built drawings for document challenged facilities, and EE project support to provide technical leadership and maintain focus on key issues for design and/or construction teams.
Determine the risk of personnel injury as a result of exposure to incident energy (IE) released during an arc-flash event.
Based on the results of an arc-flash hazard analysis, the rating of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, flame-retardant shirts and pants, eye protection, etc can be properly selected for adequate personnel protection.
Arc flash labels with this information will be provided as a part of this study.
The assessment can consist of an arc flash study with IE calculation based upon available fault current (AFC), arc duration, and working distance or can use NESC Tables 410-1 and 410-2 In Lieu of arc flash study.
Motor starting calculations determine the expected voltage dip and acceleration time for a motor and examines the impacts of motor starting on an electric power system.
Alternate starting methods, such as across-the-line or reduced voltage can be also be explored.
If system voltage dips >20% are a concern, we can propose the appropriate solutions.
For calculating more precise acceleration times, the dynamic motor starting simulation requires motor and load rotational moment of inertia data (WR2).
BICE electrical engineering in Frisco, believes that keeping abreast of key issues and problems confronting the power systems industry today is absolutely crucial in order to maintain the highest levels of technical competence and to delivery timely, appropriate solutions to our clients.
Our certified electrical engineers also specialize in electrical distribution system performance.
