Datum was founded in Dallas in 1937 by Frank Chappell, a much-admired engineer whose many high-profile Dallas projects included the Cotton Bowl and other significant buildings in Dallas historically significant.
In 1963, a very young Thomas Taylor took over operations of the firm and began to build on Mr. Chappell's legacy.
Over the years, the firm has provided elegant engineering solutions for many well-known Texas projects, such as Thanks-Giving Square, the Ballpark in Arlington, the Chapel of St. Ignatius, EDS Headquarters and the Dallas Federal Reserve Bank.
