A well thought out plan and design is arguably the most critical part of a successful trenchless pipeline project. Laney's in-house engineering staff will help you design safer, economic and more responsible trenchless crossings. Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a trenchless method of installing pipelines and conduits in the areas where traditional open cut excavations are not feasible and/or not desired for environmental and/or constructability reasons.

The Direct Pipe Method greatly reduces the likelihood of hydraulic fracture and inadvertent returns and is ideal for crossing under levees and environmentally sensitive areas as well as for outfall or shore approach applications. Laney specializes in assisting owners, contractors, municipalities and engineers with long, complex, and challenging trenchless crossings both domestically and internationally.
Services
Laney is North America's premier independent trenchless construction and engineering firm with over 30 years' experience serving the oil, gas, power, telecommunications, water, sewer, wind, desalinization and mining industries.
Over its history, Laney has operated on five different continents and is strategically reestablishing its footprint across the globe.
The company continues to expand its share of the turnkey engineering, procurement and construction market while constantly focusing on improving trenchless construction methods and technology.
Prior to joining Laney, Paul was the President / CEO of Nine Energy Service.
Paul also enjoyed over 32 years with Baker Hughes Incorporated lastly serving as President of US Land Operations, Baker's largest and most dynamic geomarket.
He also served as President of Hughes Christensen Company (drill bits), President of Baker Atlas (wireline), and President of Baker Hughes Inteq (drilling systems).
He also held a Vice President role in operations, sales and marketing as well as a number of operational management positions both domestically and internationally.

Thorough constructible trenchless designs can greatly reduce construction costs during installation, this includes a proper geotechnical investigation providing the necessary data for a more effective result.
Hydraulic fracture inadvertent return (HFIR) analysis will also aid in the design and help mitigate the potential for inadvertent returns during construction.
Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is a trenchless method of installing pipelines and conduits in the areas where traditional open cut excavations are not feasible and/or not desired for environmental and/or constructibility reasons.
It is commonly used for the installation of pipelines beneath rivers, highways, railroads and other environmentally sensitive areas, or areas where the topography or site conditions along a proposed alignment conflicts with conventional cut and cover installation practices.
