Working in the civil and environmental engineering field for 30 years, Mr. Bassett has studied, designed, bid, and provided construction phase engineering for scores of water, wastewater, land development, road, bridge, and industrial projects.
Completed projects cover feasibility studies including Act 537 Plans, wastewater collection systems, pump stations, treatment plants and sludge disposal systems, as well as water supplies, treatment facilities, storage tanks, pump stations and distribution systems.

We've partnered with multiple municipalities to update many bridges and culverts, from full replacement to repair.
We also specialize in bridge inspections, completed as the Lycoming County Engineer for their Small Bridge Inspection program and separately for other municipalities.
We have engineered a multitude of stormwater management systems, all in conjunction with the environmental permitting required to place an obstruction in a regulated stream.
For all projects we have developed the stream hydrology, calculated the structure's hydraulics, selected the appropriate structure (bridge, box culvert, pipe, etc.), and secured environmental permitting.

Buildings and Land Development
Bassett Engineering designs land developments, such as the expansion of the Walnut Street Christian School in Clinton County, the Comfort Inn expansion in Lycoming County, lighting improvements for Mifflin Borough, and many others.
We also review them for municipalites and counties.
We reviewed a wide variety of Land Development Plans while serving as the Lycoming County Planning Commission Engineer from 2010 through 2013.

Dams and Stream Bank Restoration
We design structural repairs to dams as well as reconstruction and restoration of existing stream bank.
An area beneath the existing concrete retaining wall along Fishing Creek suffered extensive erosion and undermining.
We repaired and reinforced the dam and retaining wall.
The project required stream diversion and dewatering as well as soil erosion and sediment control measures.
Upper Fairfield Township chose to bundle the construction of a culvert with roadway reconstruction of Kaiser Hollow Road.

We have developed surface water supplies on our own, and groundwater supplies with the assistance of hydrogeologists, and engineered treatment plants for both groundwater and surface water.

Nutrient Removal
Pennsylvania established limits on Nitrogen and Phosphorus, two critical nutrients that are harmful for aquatic life, for larger wastewater treatment plants that discharge anywhere in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.
Larger treatment plants and small wastewater systems received an annual cap loading for pounds of Total Nitrogen and pounds of Total Phosphorus discharged, along with the manual on wastewater modeling.

Leachate
Bassett Engineering has considerable experience treating leachate to comply with strict nitrogen limits.
Mr. Bassett designed the following two municipal wastewater treatment plants to treat landfill leachate.
At Millville, White Pines Landfill provides limited pretreatment and the municipal plant was designed to fully remove nitrogen, including the loading from the leachate and an equivalent loading from septage and other trucked-in waste.
Solomons Island has separate chemical and biological pretreatment processes upstream of the main treatment process.
