The firm of Nakamura, Oyama and Associates, Inc. (NOA) was established in 1985 to allow the continuance of consulting electrical, telecommunication, audio-visual, mechanical, and fire protection engineering services to many of the former clients of Nakamura, Kawabata and Associates, Inc. (NKA), and also provide continued employment to the former staff of NKA.

Principal of NOA is Glenn Oyama, whose experience in consulting electrical engineering spans over 40 years throughout Hawaii and the Pacific Basin.
Services
The firm has been engaged by private firms, inter-professional clients, utility companies, and County, State and Federal agencies.
Projects cover industrial-commercial, institutional, educational, recreational, ecclesiastical, civil-utility and governmental facilities, including utility company, military base and airfield, and naval shore installations.
The firm's experience extends throughout all facets of electrical engineering involving exterior and interior lighting, high and low voltage power generation, conversion and distribution, fire alarm, security, sound, video, voice/data communications, master clock/program bell, energy management and control systems, motor control, grounding, lightning protection, electromagnetic shielding, surge protection, etc.
NOA's designs are based on using long-lasting materials that withstand the local elements while keeping within the project's budget.
Aside from copper wires which are often recycled, our firm's approach is to re-use existing electrical elements in-place as much as practicable.
This includes consideration to retain existing electrical system elements in-place and integrate with new in lieu of removal and disposal wherever existing conditions can be field verified and prove to be economically feasible from a life cycle vantage point.
NOA staff consists of 6 registered professional electrical engineers (P.E.E.'s), including one registered professional mechanical engineer (P.M.E.)/fire protection engineer (F.P.E.) and 2 registered communication distribution designers, with over 200 years of cumulative experience, 7 electrical designers and draftsmen, and two administrative personnel.
The structure of NOA's staff of 12 technical and 2 administrative personnel, who have worked together for numerous years (nearly half of the personnel have been with the firm for over 10 years) is very flexible wherein individuals can easily shift from project to project to meet our client's schedules.
