Petersen Engineering
At Petersen Engineering, we design buildings with fully integrated MEP/FP systems. Critical to our success is our "keep it simple" approach. We start by finding ways to reduce energy demand. Then we consider cost effective and simple solutions that ensure your building performs well throughout its whole lifecycle, while maximizing comfort and building quality.

We stand behind the belief that high performing, energy efficient buildings can be beautiful, durable, comfortable, and affordable. Petersen Engineering is, in my opinion, the best MEP/FP firm in the greater Boston area. James and his staff have all the necessary training and credentials, but more importantly they are creative, but very practical.

Not only is their approach to engineering current and follows best practices, it's innovative, forward-thinking and pushes us to be better architects. I highly recommend Petersen Engineering. The biggest compliment you can give to a small but growing firm is not to always rely on the founder.

Collaborative relationships form the foundation of our work.
We are progressive and forward thinking, as evidenced by the fact that Petersen Engineering is the engineer of record for 6 of the 8 large multifamily projects funded in the 2018 Mass Design Challenge, an incentive program to prove that Passive House can be deployed at scale in affordable multifamily housing.
We offer all the MEP/FP services you expect, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering.
What makes us stand out is our focus on sustainable, high performance design for the whole building, including the MEP/FP systems.

We work well with a broad range of project- and personality-types, viewing the team's success as our success.
We strive to cultivate a team that reflects and embraces the diversity of the communities we serve.
We are committed to advancing our skills and credentials, constantly seeking new ways to add value to our clients.
