RRD Engineering helps clients develop new and effective solutions to a large gamut of problems in the realm of wind power, mechanical engineering, and structural engineering. We take on new designs as well as validation analyses and certification of pre-existing projects.

Whereas our expertise is in onshore, offshore, and airborne wind energy, our experience spans across: aero-hydro-servo-leastic design, composite structural tayloring, FEA stress analysis, load assessment, performance assessment, feasibility studies, code development, and structural engineering. Our background includes both numerical and physical modeling, encompassing field testing, data collection and analysis.

The spectrum of our clients ranges from architectural firms interested in structural analyses, to private parties involved in the construction of small mechanical devices; from wind farm developers to wind turbine manufacturers. While keeping focus on our clients' needs and satisfaction, we customize our reports on an individual basis to insure the immediate applicability of our solutions.

Dr. Rick Damiani is a licensed engineer in the State of Colorado, with expertise in Aero-structural design, Mechanical design and analysis, and structural dynamics.
Dr. Damiani is an expert in the specialized field of wind engineering and fluid dynamics.
He has published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles spanning various aspects of wind technology development and energy R&D.
Rick has spent 20 years in the wind industry and has been involved in the development of more than 500MW of wind power projects, in new product development, offshore wind turbine design, composite design, systems engineering and optimization, small wind turbine design and testing, as well as structural engineering.
Wind turbine manufacturers have sought our support for all phases of design.
In the initial conceptual phase, for instance, our proprietary software is capable of assessing both HAWT and VAWT performance and loads, so to quickly evaluate multiple turbine configurations.
Once the optimal configuration is chosen, we recommend performing detailed aero-hydro-servo-elastic simulations and, in case, multi-body dynamic modeling to accurately predict inertial and aerodynamic loads.
The important aspects of the governor mechanism and generator are incorporated in this phase.
We are working on new projects redesigning mid-size turbines and delving in control-system design, and that spurred more interest in the electrification of bicycles and motor control.
Currently we are working on a Trek bike conversion to be unveiled soon; recently, we helped our friend Mark on a recumbent bike project.
E-bikes have the potential to help seniors and folks that have mobility difficulties enjoy riding outdoors, and at RRDEngineering we want to help folks get on with their new electrifying adventures.
