Beginning in 2005, Thompson Engineering Company was created to provide environmental consulting and engineering assistance to state and local governments.
Our background in solar powered electronic sensors and GPS/AVL systems provided an excellent means of implementing self-sustaining remote-control environmentally-conscious decision systems.
We provided consulting assistance to Midwest state governments on waterway usage, chemical usage plans for ice and snow removal activities, and installed weather monitoring devices and traffic control devices for the motoring public.

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources: starting in 2001, TEC has conducted more than 12 surveys for the MN DNR about boat safety, invasive species, boat usage, etc. using aerial photography, paper and online surveys and interviews.
MN DNR: in 2013 TEC produced a comprehensive cost analysis report for various approaches to invasive species mitigation.
Coatesville Veterans Hospital: In 2015, TEC designed, installed, and connected backup electrical power using two Cummins turbo generators, all the switching equipment for four primary sources, and computer control.

TEC installed solar panels at th Veterans Affairs Out-Patient Clinic (VAOC) in Mare Island, CA.
TEC worked with the General Contractor as an SDVOSB subcontractor to install a 109KW photo-voltaic solar system on the VAOC rooftop.
