Kane Engineering designs systems used in the manufacturing of many different products, from automotive components, to paper and printing, to food packaging.
Our unique niche is combining mechanical solutions through electrical motors and drives to the PLC or motion control system, frequently integrating load cells, laser measurement, and a variety of position feedback devices.
In the manufacturing business, measurement and time are commonly monitored over the course of the automation process.
Our systems are easily expanded to include date and time information for KPI (Key Performance Indicators) and other monitoring.
Our customers frequently ask for our advice to improve operations and 30% increase in shift production for a tapping operation.
The original machine used reversing motor contactors to electrically reverse the spindle motor for tapping, then reversing out of the tapped part.
This allowed the motor to draw peak current, on each start of the motor.
There was no limiting of monitoring of the motor current/torque as the tap became dull.
Controlling the accel/decel through the VFD (variable frequency drive) dramatically reduced the motor heating on forward/reverse transitions.
Many of today's consumer and commercial products require customization to meet the customer's needs.
The system consists of 300 feet of conveyer, moving product pallets through three separate paint machines, past manual operators, and through drying stations.
If there is a quality problem, the pallet may be removed without affecting or holding up the system.
Each plat panel paint machine has multiple spray guns that may be turned on to match the product requirements.
The work instruction barcode is scanned at the loading station linking the recipe to the product pallet.
