CFR, established in 2006, is a small business enterprise located in Germantown, Maryland. We are a federal small, SWaM certified, and Montgomery County local small business offering comprehensive mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection engineering and construction management services for projects of varying size and complexity. We specialize in highly complex healthcare, research, and laboratory design.

Our experience includes a wide range of facilities for a diverse clientele. To date our largest client includes The National Institutes of Health (NIH) where we just completed a five (5) year IDIQ contract. In addition, we are currently on our second-term IDIQ contract with The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and were recently awarded an IDIQ contract with The University of Maryland and George Mason University.

As a team, we have successfully performed critical development and design team roles for over 1,500 projects for multiple federal agencies and private sector clients.

CFR believes in giving back to our local community.
CFR has provided pro bono MEP engineering design for the Charles Houston Teen Recreation Center in Alexandria, VA.
In addition to pro bono MEP design, CFR employees have been volunteering their time to renovate an employment opportunity interview room for the homeless at the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless shelter.
CFR supports or sponsors many local charity events and organizations throughout the year including Operation Second Chance, Nourish, and University of Maryland's QUEST Honors Program.
The general scope of work was to provide MEP engineering and lighting design services for the renovations of (10) existing office spaces and rooms into a 1,760 sf executive conference room with a 675 sf breakout area.
The executive conference room has the ability to divide into two smaller conference rooms with a movable partition with adaptable lighting and lighting control system.
The breakout area has a full pantry style kitchen, a video conference huddle area, and various seating options for breakout meetings.
This project included MEP engineering design services for the relocation of existing pharmacy functions and hazardous drug storage to the I-IVAU area in Building 10, approximately3,000 SF.
Design also includes three (3) related projects; an expansion of the existing I-IVAU facility, a buildout of a hazardous drug storage area, and a new mechanical room to support the new areas.
The mechanical design included modifications to the supply air and exhaust air systems and new connections to the existing 100% outside air AHUs and existing exhaust fans.
CFR is the MEP EOR and Prime Project Manager for the renovation and expansion of the Thorlabs facility, which will nearly double in size at completion.
This includes MEP design for:16,000 SF total fabrication + support area: 1,350 SF Class 100/ISO 5; 2,000 SF Class 1000/ISO 6; 4,500 SF Class 10,000/ISO 7 and; 1,200 SF Class 100,000 ISO/8.
Resizing and redesign of the Coater ballroom Air Handling Units from packages gas/electric to chilled water/steam reheat systems.
Fit out of the existing single story, high bay space with new offices, cleanrooms, storage and warehouse space to include space with hazard ratings.
CFR provided MEP Engineering design services for Capital Digestive Care's newest office space in Rockville, MD.
This 12,540 SF fit-out included plumbing design for new exam room sinks, new patient and staff restrooms, and a break room.
CFR also provided low voltage design for a new nurse call system, location tracking system, and an IT room with backup UPS system, dedicated cooling and cable tray location.
This project included providing project management, MEP, structural engineering, architectural design services and cost estimating services for installation support alteration associated with the removal of an existing, Government owned Varian Clinac 21EX accelerator and the alteration, removal and installation of facilities necessary for the installation of a Varian TruBeam STX radiotherapy accelerator in its place.
