The City of Hunnewell received a CDBG grant in the amount of $353,500 for engineering and construction of Street Improvements. The targeted area consisted of a total of 2,777 linear feet (or 0.53 miles) of road improvements to both existing asphalt and gravel roads. This infrastructure improvement starts from concrete pavement at Highway 61 exit onto Birch Street to Highway V.

The project also incorporated the one block of gravel road (1st Street) and continuing to Maple Street for one block to State Highway V. These improvements will increase pavement life and promote drainage from pavement by raising the roads elevation so that drainage flows away from the road and to the ditch areas and off the streets.
