The historic Cattermole Library in Fort Madison, Iowa, is undergoing renovations to create offices on the first floor for the Main Street Group, as well as add apartments on the second floor.
Individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places and listed as a contributing building to Fort Madison's National Historic District, this iconic community landmark was built in 1893/1894 and is the only example of the Romanesque Revival architectural style in downtown Fort Madison and the only documented example thus far in the entire city of Fort Madison.
The former Churchill Drug Pharmaceutical distribution warehouse was constructed over a number of years at the corner of 4th Avenue and Valley Street.
Sitting nearly vacant for the last 30 years, the building will be revitalized to contain commercial/retail space on the first floor with multi-family residential on the upper three floors.
A new atrium connecting the two buildings along 4th Street will be included as part of the design.
